GLYCOSPOT HAS, AS THE FIRST, DEVELOPED A TOOL THAT MAKES MEASURING ENZYME ACTIVITY SIMPLE, FAST AND ACTION-ORIENTED FOR PRODUCTION USE, SO THAT COMPANIES CAN OPTIMIZE PROCESSES TO REDUCE WASTE.

Problem
Enzymes are naturally present or added to processes in many process industries. However, today it is both labor/time consuming and requires an advanced laboratory to obtain accurate information on what enzymes are present and what effect they have on a given process. The current solutions for measuring enzyme activity at the production level within an acceptable time frame are currently a number of older indirect and imprecise methods. These methods do not provide the exact information required to optimize processes, reduce waste and use fewer chemicals and less energy.

Solution
GlycoSpot’s SIRIUS is a “Lab-free” solution that directly, in the production and within 15-60 minutes, gives the user the relevant information about the presence and strength of enzymes, and hereby enables the user to take relevant actions in relation to the process. The solution is the first ready-to-use measurement kit for enzyme activity.

Business
GlycoSpot’s potential customers are companies operating in industrial segments such as food production, bioenergy, animal feed, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and cleaning products, or in other industries where enzymes play an important role in the production process. Common to these industries is the lack of measurement of enzyme activity in production – the inability to act on enzyme parameters in time before they affect daily production. Other companies that focus on sustainability are looking to switch from chemicals to enzymes in their production processes, but need to document the level of enzyme activity before a change is possible.

Market
Primarily, GlycoSpot focuses on detergents, industrial baking and milling, with a total market of approx. DKK 1 billion per year. It is expected that an annual turnover of approx. DKK 50 million is possible within 3 years in these markets.

What has been accomplished?
GlycoSpot’s products are fully developed and available in the market.
